American 1st Realty’s roots go back to 1999 when Jeff Harris, president of A1R, was asked to create a resale brokerage division for Centex Homes, one of the nation’s largest home builders. The new Centex division was launched in 2000 under the name “Centex Homes Realty.” CHR provided contingency management services for the new home division’s contingent buyers, but quickly grew into a diversified resale brokerage company with a residential resale division, a commercial real estate and land division. The CHR period was one of rapid expansion and diversification.

In the spring of 2006 Jeff Harris had an opportunity to purchase CHR from Centex, which he did, renaming the company Priority 1st Realty. As an independent firm, P1R was able to diversify its client base and add new builder clients. A variety of new programs were developed and launched, many of which were internet-based. From almost the inception of P1R, a great deal of research and planning went into formulating and developing the concept of a virtual real estate company. 

In August of 2007 American 1st Realty was introduced, utilizing the staff, resources, knowhow and expertise developed over the years at Centex Homes Realty and Priority 1st Realty. In sum, A1R is but the latest chapter in the story of an established organization known for its innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Yet, at the very heart of the company, is an enduring dedication to providing superior service to both clients and agents alike. 

Organization

American 1st Realty is divided into four groups.

The Management-Broker Group is responsible for brokerage operations and agent oversight as well as legal and financial matters.

The Agent Support Group is responsible for personnel and branch matters, licensing, communications, technical support, training and transaction coordination

The Operational Divisions Group consists of the company’s operational divisions including mortgage lending, commercial real estate, insurance and client services

The Affiliates Group consists of independent companies that provide real estate-related services in cooperation with A1R for the benefit of agents and clients.
